Camera Basics: An Introduction to Photography
Whether you’ve just bought your first camera or still find yourself relying on Auto mode, this hands-on introduction will give you the foundations you need to photograph with confidence. You’ll learn how aperture, shutter speed, ISO, focus, and composition work together. You will then put them into practice through creative shooting exercises.
Please bring your own camera. As every camera has its own settings and configuration, you’ll work directly with your own equipment throughout the class.

Before getting into technical settings, we start thinking about the image itself. Understand the ISO, aperture, depth of field, shutter speed, perspective, and simple composition to create more intentional photographs.

Get familiar with the essential settings and shooting modes. Experiment what aperture, shutter speed, and ISO actually do, and how they work together to control light, focus, and movement.
