Create a Wall Hanging
For the first time, Torro Studio collaborates with a textile artist Maria Elisa Vale coming from Porto to explore a tapestry weaving experience.
Maria imagined this beginner-friendly workshop as a hands-on introduction to weaving on a nail loom. With the warp already set up, you'll learn the essential techniques for creating texture, colour and shape using a variety of yarns and fibres. Throughout the session, you'll experiment, play with different materials and weave your own unique wall hanging.
Whether you've never woven before or simply want to try a new craft, this workshop is a chance to slow down, make something with your hands and enjoy the process.

By the end of the session, you'll take home your finished wall hanging, a solid understanding of the basic tapestry weaving techniques and plenty of ideas to keep weaving at home.

About the Instructor
Maria Elisa Vale is a textile artist based in Porto, Portugal. Her practice explores natural fibres, hand spinning and hand weaving, with a focus on materiality and the relationship between traditional techniques and contemporary making.
She is the founder of Atelier Sem Forma, an independent studio dedicated to traditional artistic practices, where she curates exhibitions and teaches workshops in tapestry weaving, wool processing and other textile techniques. Through her own brand, numvale, she creates handwoven pieces inspired by nature, where process, texture and materials guide the work.
Alongside her independent practice, she taught textile arts at a specialised secondary art school in Portugal during the 2024–25 academic year. Her teaching approach emphasizes slow making, tactile experience and creative exploration, encouraging participants to engage closely with materials while developing their own artistic language.
