Make Your Own Plates – Wheel Throwing Class

Get a feel for the pottery wheel in this focused session dedicated to throwing your own ceramic plate. Ideal for intermediates, this class introduces the core techniques of shaping clay on the wheel, with guidance at every step to create a flat or curved plate.

You’ll learn how to control form and thickness while creating a balanced, functional piece. Expect a hands-on, slightly messy, and highly rewarding experience as you bring your plate to life from a simple lump of clay.

Included:

  • Clay and materials for 2 different plates with glaze and firing

  • Use of wheel, tools, and equipment

  • Selection of glaze

At the end of the session, you’ll have your own handmade plates, which we will carefully dry, glaze with a transparent finish, and kiln-fire in our studio. Your finished piece will be ready for collection in approximately 4–5 weeks. If you’d like to personalize your piece further, you can book an additional glazing session to choose and apply your own color finish.
